Prior to 21 Sept 45 all quartering and Billeting

had been done by a Mr. Patterson, a member of the

Gimson Govt.

On 21 Sept a new post of Quartering Comdt, Hong

Kong was created. This post was filled by Lt. Col.

Milne. He now has a full staff which deals with all

accommodation, requisitioning and assessment of

furniture, etc. The composition of his staff is shown

at Appx "A".

For all purposes regarding the actual allocation

of accommodation, the 2.0. deals direct with the General

Administration Branch. In all other respects he is

under Central Executive.

In the period under review a number of large

hostels and houses have been requisitioned for the

services. A number of these are still being prepared

for occupation. A very full report on this was given

in 2.C's letter No.20/10/A of 12/10/45.

Within the next week there should be an exodus of

service personnel from the Hotels.

On the Kowloon side all Service personnel are

moving to the Laimung Building or R.A.F. Hostel as well

as a Transit Hostel.

On the Hong Kong side to the Hong Kong Club and

French Mission.

A number of buildings have been requisitioned for

social amenities for the services, and Portuguese and

Chinese employees. For the latter the Club de Recreio

and Kam Loong Restaurant are examples.
